Carlos Silva is a big proponent of team unity. TNA President Carlos Silva recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. During the conversation, Silva explained the origins of his trademark “TNA Wrestling” trucker hat he wears on television. The hat has been popular enough that TNA is now selling the “Carlos Trucker Hat” on its website. Silva explained that the hat was his idea, and it was a 1-of-1 item until recently. He said the NBA’s respective Draft day traditions inspired him to make a TNA hat, and he wanted it to have an old-school vibe to it. “When I got here, I just decided to create something that I thought maybe looked a little bit old school and kind of had that sort of original classic kind of a look with this simple TNA Wrestling hat,” Silva said. “We created a couple of other prototypes, and I started wearing them for myself. And everyone kept telling me how much they liked them. So, I just… I said, ‘Yeah, sorry, it’s just a one of one. You can’t get one.’ And it was true because there was only a couple of them made, that I made for myself. “Then it just kinda kept growing. We decided to start selling them, and a few people I’ve seen show up at the arenas wearing them. It is part of my sort of weekend outfit,” he added. “It’s nice, when you don’t have hair, you can wear hats, and you don’t have to worry about your hair getting messed up. So, yeah it is definitely part of everywhere I go. I usually have on my TNA hat.” Carlos Silva wants talent to be proud of joining the TNA team Silva made the comparison to the NBA Draft again, noting how he wants to create the same feeling of joining a team in TNA. “It’s always been one of these cool sports things that I always loved and I love when that athlete puts that Lakers hat on or that Knicks hat or wherever they are going the first time. You can sort of see their joy of joining the team. And I think we are trying to create that same feeling at TNA amongst all of us, the staff, the wrestlers, sort of all of us are athletes trying to make something happen. So, it’s fun.”
